District Pinewood Derby

On Saturday, Caleb participated in the District Pinewood Derby. He was excited to be able to go. There were about 70 participants that day which made the race really, really long. We were there for 4 hours and Caleb raced for about 10 minutes. He was able to race 6 times and they took the average time of those races. He mostly got second place when he raced which made him excited but the average time was not low enough to place in the top 10. We kept telling him to enjoy the experience which overall, he did.

School Carnival

Tonight we attended the kids school carnival. The theme was the 50's and the gymnasium was decorated very nice. The kids had a lot of fun playing all the games, eating pizza, nachos, fries, cotton candy, and hanging out with their friends. Scott, Mom and I waited until after the carnival to get Mongolian Grill. It sounded and tasted much better then what the kids ate. Here are a few pictures of the carnival.

Granny And Her Grandkitty!

We hear about the "beloved" grandpuppy Capo all the time but her grandkitty Zeke also has a place in Granny's heart and a warm spot on her lap. . .

Well, I just heard Zeke hiss at Granny and she said, "FINE, GET DOWN!" so that precious moment did not last long -enough time at least for me to take a picture.

Caleb's Baptism Scrapbook

Click to play

Here is a digital scrapbook of Caleb's baptism. The baptism service was held at our Stake Center. We were able to have Sister Parmenter, Caleb's primary teacher, and Granny give talks on Baptism and The Holy Ghost and Grandma Vicki was the chorister. Scott baptized Caleb and then confirmed him a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After the baptism, we invited everyone to our house for dinner. We had sandwiches, potato salad, lots of fresh fruit and the Bomb Cake! It was such a special day for him and it was so nice to have our friends and family join us for this occasion. Thanks to everyone and enjoy the scrapbook.

Arbor Day

Saturday was Arbor Day (tree planting day) and Lindsay was able to participate with her school choir in a program at City Hall. They performed 3 different songs about our environment and about character education which talks about being respectful and responsible. We heard from a few City officials about the importance of Arbor Day and then there was a drawing to give away either Maple or Flowering Cherry trees for free. Mom, Scott and I all received Flowering Cherry trees. After realizing that we won 3 trees and we only wanted 2 we gave one away. We are excited to plant our new trees out front. They are so beautiful when they bloom in the spring.

My First Quilt

I finally finished my first quilt for a bed. This is in our spare bedroome which is also the kids T.V. room so I decided to have the bed as a day bed style. I am really excited to have it completed. I love the quilting that was done on it. It has stars all over. I already have plans for my second one. Hopefully it will not take as long as my first one. Not that it was hard sewing the squares together but it was stashed away for awhile because I was doing other projects around the house. Right now mom is enjoying using it and whoever else comes to stay can enjoy using it as well.

A Day At The Races!

Second Place!

Caleb went to his first Pinewood Derby. He couldn't wait for this day to come. We have been to several in the past since Scott had so many Cub Scout callings but this was Caleb's first time in the race. It took awhile for him to decide what the "theme" was going to be for his car but he finally decided to support the Beavers by decorating it with Oregon State colors and decals. We won't bore you with the problems we had getting the car ready since it was our first time, hopefully we learned a thing or two to help with next year's car. Overall, things worked out pretty well because Caleb came in second place! Later this month, he will be going to the District Pinewood Derby to compete with Scouts from all around our area! He had so much fun and I think Scott did too!
